The Netherlands
On Nov. 9, 1944, the 2nd Canadian Corps occupied the Nijmegen salient bridgehead in Holland and turned it into a winter base. Then on Feb. 8, 1945, following a huge barrage, Allied units began their winter assault - the Rhineland Offensive called Operation Veritable.

I am proud to remember the WWII vets who fought, especially those who gave their lives for us. My father was in the Irish Regiment of Canada.  He was in Holland when they were liberated. Unfortunately he passed away from cancer a few years ago.  He said "We must never forget!" I do not intend to. I came across this website and was checking it out with great interest. Then I discovered this photo. My sisters and I are certain that it is our dad in the foreground. I would be grateful for any information regarding this picture, where exactly it was taken and when. Does anybody have any idea who these men are? Does anyone know a particular soldier in this photo? Perhaps you are one of them. Has anybody seen this picture elsewhere with any further description? I would dearly love any information concerning this photograph. I thank you in advance for responding to my questions.
