1st Can Para Bat never fought as a part of the Canadian Army, it was all ways attached to the British Army.

This photo was taken  less than 2 weeks from the end of the war, and most of these guys have all ready signed to go to the Pacific to fight the Japanese.

The Colonel has the Airbourne Division patch " Pegasis " on his right shoulder. The Major standing behind him is wearing the rimless " Para " helmet, that distingusihed the jumpers from all other British troops in WW2.  The beret is maroon in colour, with a small winged badge, as worn by Lt  Proulx on the right, being inspected by the Colonel.

The Regimental march of the Paras is " Ryde of the Valkyries " by Wagner, used many years later in the  1980's film " Apocalyps Now " by Francis Ford Coppala.
